Jurnal Solusi Masyarakat Dikara (JSMD) is a multidisciplinary academic journal that aims to provide a platform for the dissemination of innovative research across a broad range of fields, including social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health sciences. Peer Review Process

Jurnal Solusi Masyarakat Dikara (JSMD) applies single-blind peer-review process. If the paper reaches minimum quality criteria, follows the scope, and aims of the Journal, fulfills the Editorial policies, it is sent to at least two external reviewers for evaluation. Reviewer selection is up to the editor-in-chief, based on previous experience, competence, and previous experience in reviewing papers for this journal.

The single-blind peer-review process is managed using this OJS software platform. Reviewers evaluate the paper and record their comments to the journal system. The editor passes the reviewers' anonymous comments back to the author(s) for corrections. Anonymity is strictly maintained.

Review Process has the following steps:

1. Paper submission by author
2. Editorial office checks whether the submission is prepared in accordance with Author’s guidelines.
3. Editor-in-Chief checks whether the paper is appropriate for the journal and if not, paper will be rejected at this point. If the paper is appropriate for the journal, it will be sent to review.
4. Reviewers Invitation - at least two reviewers are invited to assess the paper (or more). At least two positive responses are required for the paper to be accepted.
5. Response to invitations - reviewers accept or decline the invitation, based on their availability, expertise, or conflict of interest.
6. Conducting the review - once the reviewers accept the invitation, they have three weeks to conduct and complete the review and submit the comments to the editorial office, with a recommendation to accept, reject or request revisions (major or minor).
7. Review evaluation by journal - all returned reviews are considered by editor before overall decision is made. In case the reviews differ widely, editor will invite additional reviewer before overall decision is made.
8. Editor Decision - is sent to the author with reviewer's comments. If accepted the paper will be sent to production. If rejected the paper will be archived. If minor/major revision is required, the author will be instructed how to improve the paper. Once the revised paper is received, it will be sent to review again for verification (Round 2).

To get recognition for the review contribution on Web of Science, a reviewer may forward "Article Review Acknowledgement" E-mail to reviews@webofscience.com

The review will be displayed in the reviewer’s profile as verified record without showing the review content, compromising reviewer anonymity, or infringing journal policies.

Review Type, Reviewers and Criteria

Review type. Single-blind peer review (reviewers know the authors' identity; authors do not know the reviewers' identity).

Number of reviewers and time limit. Every manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening is reviewed by at least two external reviewers. Reviewers are asked to return their report within three weeks.

Reviewer qualifications. Reviewers hold a doctoral degree or equivalent expertise in the manuscript's field, have published in national or international journals within the last three years, have no conflict of interest with the authors, and are not members of the Editorial Board handling the manuscript.

Review criteria. Reviewers assess: (1) novelty and contribution to community service/engagement practice; (2) soundness of method and implementation; (3) quality and evidence of results/impact; (4) adequacy and recency of literature; (5) clarity, structure, and language. Comments must be substantive, not limited to grammar or layout.

Similarity check. Every manuscript is screened with plagiarism-detection software before review. Manuscripts with similarity above 20% (excluding references) are returned to the authors or rejected.

Editorial decision. The Editor-in-Chief decides based on reviewer reports. Editors who are authors of a manuscript are excluded from handling and deciding on it; such manuscripts are assigned to an independent editor.

AI in review. Reviewers must not use AI tools to analyse, evaluate, or draft review comments, nor upload manuscripts to AI applications (see AI Policy).

Complaints and appeals. Authors may appeal a decision by writing to editor@dikara.org; appeals are handled following COPE guidance.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Publication Ethics

Jurnal Solusi Masyarakat Dikara (JSMD) is a open-access, peer-reviewed international journal. This journal follows guidelines from Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) facing all aspects of publication ethics and, in particular, how to handle cases of research and publication misconduct. This statement clarifies ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer­­­­­ and the publisher (Yayasan Lembaga Riset dan Inovasi Dikara). JSMD and Yayasan Lembaga Riset dan Inovasi Dikara are dedicated to following best practices on ethical matters, errors and retractions. The prevention of publication malpractice is one of the important responsibilities of the editorial board. Any kind of unethical behavior is not acceptable, and the journals do not tolerate plagiarism in any form.

JSMD adapts COPE to meet high quality standard of ethics for publisher, editors, authors, and reviewers. As an essential issue, publication ethics needs to be explained clearly to improve the quality of the research worldwide. In this part, we explain the standard for editors, authors, and reviewers. Publisher don’t have right to interfere with the integrity of the contents and only support to publish in timely manner.

For Editors

1. Based on the review report of the editorial review board, the editor can accept, reject, or request modifications to the manuscript.
2. Editors should be responsible for every articles published in JSMD
   
3. The editors may communicate with other editors or reviewers in making the final decision.
4. An editor has to evaluate the manuscript objectively for publication, judging each on its quality without looking to nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the authors. He/she should decline his/her assignment when there is a potential of conflict of interest.
5. Editors need to ensure the document sent to the reviewer does not contain the information of the author, vice versa.
6. Editors’ decision should be informed to authors accompanied by reviewers’ comments unless they contain offensive or libelous remarks.
7. Editors should respect requests from authors that an individual should not review the submission, if these are well-reasoned and practicable.
8. Editors and all staffs should guarantee the confidentiality of the submitted manuscript.
9. Editors will be guided by COPE flowcharts if there is a suspected misconduct or disputed authorship.

For Reviewers

Reviewers need to comment on ethical questions and possible research and publication misconduct.

1. Reviewers will do the work in timely manner and should notify editor if they can not complete the work.
2. Reviewers need to keep the confidentiality of the manuscript.
3. Reviewers should not accept to review the manuscripts in which there is potential conflict of interest between them and any of the authors.

For Authors

1. Author(s) affirm that the material has not been previously published and that they have not trans­ferred elsewhere any rights to the article.
2. Author(s) should ensure the originality of the work and they have properly cited others’ work in accordance of the references format.
3. Author(s) should not engage in plagiarism nor self-plagiarism.
4. Author(s) should ensure that they follow the authorship criteria that are taken from JSMD that is explained in instruction for author of JSMD.
5. Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. It is also expected that the author will not publish redundant manuscripts or manuscripts describing the same research in more than one journal.
6. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to conception, design, execution or interpretation of the reported study. Others who have made significant contribution must be listed as co-authors. Authors also ensure that all the authors have seen and agreed to the submitted version of the manuscript and their inclusion of names as co-authors.
7. The author(s) haven’t suggested any personal information that may make the identity of the patient recognizable in any forms of description part, photograph or pedigree.
8. Author(s) should give the editor the data and details of the work, if there are suspicions of data falsification or fabrication.
9. If at any point of time, the author(s) discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in submitted manuscript, then the error or inaccuracy must be reported to the editor.
10. Authors of the journal should clarify everything that may cause conflict of interests such as work, research expenses, consul­tant expenses, and intellectual property on the document of JSMD form disclosure.

Policy of Screening for Plagiarism

All manuscripts must be free from plagiarism contents. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking. Editors check the plagiarism detection of articles in this journal by using a Plagiariscm Checker software.

Identification. Every submission is screened with similarity-detection software before it is sent for review, and the report is kept in the editorial record. Authors are encouraged to run their own check before submitting.

Classification and handling. A similarity percentage is only an indicator. Editors examine the report for substantial matching blocks from a single source and for uncited reuse, and classify findings as: (1) copying text, data, or ideas of others without proper citation; (2) paraphrasing without own wording even when a source is cited; (3) reuse of the authors' own published work without citation (self-plagiarism); and (4) duplicate or simultaneous submission. Manuscripts with similarity above 20% (excluding references) or with substantial uncited matching are returned to the authors for revision or rejected. The authors are asked to respond before a decision is made.

Plagiarism found after publication. The matter is handled under the Correction and Retraction Policy, following the relevant COPE flowchart.

References Management

Every manuscript submitted to JSMD the author should use references management software. e.g Mendeley or Zotero, etc to make it easier to set the library format requested by JSMD. The library format (citation format) for JSMD is APA style.

Submitted manuscript that do not use the APA style will be rejected in the initial selection process. So before submitting, please make sure that author to use the APA citation style.

Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Submission: 0.00 (IDR)
Authors are required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs.

Article Publication: 250.000 (IDR)
If this paper is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an Article Publication Fee to cover publications costs.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

JSMD recognises that generative AI tools (e.g., large language models, AI writing, translation, image and data-analysis assistants) are increasingly used in research and publishing. This policy sets minimum obligations for each role.

For Authors

• Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the submitted manuscript, including any content produced with AI assistance.
• AI tools cannot be listed as an author or co-author and cannot take responsibility for the work.
• Any use of generative AI in writing, editing, translation, data analysis, or image/figure creation must be disclosed in a statement placed before the References section (tool name, version, purpose of use). Basic spelling and grammar checkers do not require disclosure.
• AI must not be used to fabricate or manipulate data, results, citations, or images. All references must be verified by the authors against the original sources.

For Editors (Editor-in-Chief, Section Editors, Editorial Board)

• Editors must disclose any use of AI in editorial work (e.g., screening, language editing, correspondence).
• AI must not replace scientific judgement or editorial decision making.
• Editors must not upload confidential manuscripts or parts of them to AI tools that retain or train on submitted data.

For Peer Reviewers

• Reviewers must not use AI to analyse, evaluate, or draft review comments.
• Reviewers must not upload a manuscript, or any part of it, to an AI application.
• Reviewers are responsible for the confidentiality and scientific quality of their reports.

Handling violations. Undisclosed AI use, fabricated content, or breaches of confidentiality are treated as publication misconduct and handled under the COPE flowcharts (see Publication Ethics).

Conflict of Interest and Independence of Editorial Process

• Editors, Editorial Board members, and reviewers must declare any conflict of interest (co-authorship in the last three years, same unit, financial or personal relationship).
• A manuscript authored by the Editor-in-Chief, a Co-Editor-in-Chief, a Section Editor, or an Editorial Board member is handled by an independent editor, and the person concerned has no access to its review records.
• Members of the editorial team (Editor-in-Chief, Co-Editor-in-Chief, Section Editors, Editorial Board) may publish in JSMD with a maximum of one article per year per person. Such articles are processed like regular submissions, handled by an independent editor, and reviewed by reviewers who are not the authors' co-authors or affiliates.

Authorship Criteria

Authors must have made a substantial contribution to conception/design, data collection or analysis, and drafting or revising the manuscript; approved the final version; and agree to be accountable for the work (consistent with ICMJE/CRediT). Contributions of each author must be stated in the submission. Adding, removing, or reordering authors after acceptance requires written agreement from all authors and approval of the editor; changes without explanation are not accepted.

Research Misconduct and Post-publication Discussion

• Allegations of misconduct (plagiarism, data fabrication/falsification, duplicate publication, authorship disputes) are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and an independent editor following the relevant COPE flowchart. The authors are asked to respond. Outcomes may include correction, expression of concern, or retraction.
• Post-publication comments, questions, and criticism can be sent to editor@dikara.org. Valid concerns are handled as above, and corrections are published as corrigenda/errata linked to the original article.

Publishing Schedule

JSMD is published three times a year (April, August, and December), as registered at the ISSN portal. Issue data, including the country and institution of origin of authors, is available for each issue.

Data Availability and Reproducibility Policy

• Each article must include a data availability statement that explains whether and where the supporting data, instruments, protocols, or materials of the activity can be accessed (e.g., in the article, an appendix, or a public repository), or why they cannot be shared.
• Where appropriate to the field, authors provide enough detail on methods, procedures, and measurement instruments for the activity to be understood and repeated by others.
• Data sharing must respect research ethics, personal data protection, confidentiality of participants and partner institutions, and intellectual property rights. Personal data that identifies individuals must not be published without consent.
• Editors may request underlying data during review or after publication when there are concerns about accuracy or integrity.

Research Ethics and Ethical Clearance

• Articles reporting research or community service activities that involve human participants and/or animals must state the number and year of the ethical clearance issued by the relevant ethics committee.
• For activities with low or negligible risk, the ethical clearance may be replaced by a statement from the authors on compliance with ethical standards, which is approved by the reviewers and/or editors.
• Authors must obtain informed consent from participants and permission from partner institutions, including consent for publishing photographs or identifiable information, and state this in the article.
• Manuscripts without the required ethical statement are returned to the authors before review.

Correction and Retraction Policy

JSMD corrects the published record when errors or misconduct are found. Decisions follow the COPE Retraction Guidelines.

• Correction (corrigendum/erratum). Used when an error does not make the main findings or conclusions of the article unreliable, for example an error in data presentation, author list, affiliation, or reference. The authors or any reader may report it to editor@dikara.org.
• Retraction. Used when there is academic-integrity misconduct (fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, unauthorised authorship, undisclosed conflict of interest, duplicate publication) or a serious error that makes data, findings, or conclusions unreliable.
• Withdrawal. Used for a manuscript that has not yet been published as an official article.

Authority and procedure. The Editor-in-Chief decides after a preliminary check of the evidence and consultation with an independent editor. The authors are given an opportunity to respond. The decision, reason, and the party that made it are documented.

Notices. Every correction or retraction is published openly, stating the article, the type of action, the reason, and who decided. The notice is linked to the original article, and the article page, full-text file, and metadata (including the DOI record once DOI is in use) are updated.

Retracted articles are not deleted from the journal website or archive. They remain accessible and are clearly marked as retracted on the article page, the full-text document, and in the metadata.

Copyright and Publishing Rights

• Copyright. Authors retain the copyright of their articles. Each article page states the copyright holder and year.
• Right to publish. By submitting, authors grant JSMD, published by Yayasan Lembaga Riset dan Inovasi Dikara, the right of first publication and the right to publish, distribute, archive, and index the article in the journal, its archives, and indexing services.
• Licence. Articles are published open access under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). Anyone may share and adapt the work with attribution and under the same licence. Reading and downloading are free.
• Authors' warranties. Authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published elsewhere, that they have permission to reproduce any third-party material (figures, tables, photographs), and that publication does not infringe the rights of others.
• Authors' reuse. Authors may deposit and reuse their own article, provided JSMD is cited as the original place of publication.
